Wonderful early French rustic country house free standing kitchen cupboard. A rare piece from the Perche region of France, with willow doors and a fruitwood frame. All original hand made fittings, hinges and hooks. Charming and attractive, an unusual find in a warmly coloured fruitwood with pretty carved flowers on the doors.
Early 1800s, France.
Many signs of historic woodworm and repairs, this is a rustic piece. The knobs on the drawers have been replaced, there is wear to the feet on the cupboard. Some of the willow lattice work has been repaired. The original lock on the bottom drawers has been removed but the cupboard opens and closes smoothly with the replacement hook, which itself is antique. The upright panels which make up the back of the cupboard have a wooden support behind them. The cupboard is stable and strong and can withstand robust use.
