Large oil on canvas, a young couple looking wistfully into a river, arms entwined, in a French town. The characters have a Tintinesque quality to them, naively painted but charming. Strong impasto strokes in earthy colours, simply painted but creating an overall impression which is both pleasing and striking.
France, 1966, signed bottom right and full location details verso. Later frame.
There is a great deal of craquelure, the whole painting is covered in it, as the paint has been applied thickly and has subsequently cracked.
H 92 x W 65 x D 3 cm, including frame.
